The Forest Practices Board commissioned the Centre for Non-Timber Resources to review the non-timber forest products (NTFP) sector with the goal to raise awareness of the importance of NTFPs as a forest resource, and to encourage government and forest managers to actively address the relationship between forest planning and practices and NTFPs. The harvest of NTFPs, of which there are over 200 species of plants and fungi across British Columbia, is currently unregulated.
